Knitting News: The Wrap-ghan

Bernat  has just issued a new free pattern for a new afghan style – the Wrap-ghan! It’s an afghan with sleeves, for keeping warm and still having freedom of movement in arms and hands. They’ve designed one in crochet and one in knit. Would this qualify as the world’s largest sweater?

  1. OMG, great find Linda! I was thinking about buying a Slanket but these look more cosy and easy to make. I just printed off both pattens. I have to decide if I’m going to knit or crochet it. I haven’t crochet for awhile so I’m kind of leaning towards that.

  2. I saw these! I think it’s way cooler than the fleece ones they sell on tv! I just have to figure out if my attention span is long enough to ever finish it!

  3. wowza!!! this is the perfect answer for somebody that is always cold(ME) I guess I should start now, so it will be ready by next winter♥

Hello, I just love this wrap-ghan. I am almost done and can’t wait to use it. But I have having a problem with the sleeves. On row 5 is where my problem begins, it says to put 2 sc in the first st. and then go on from there and put 2 sc in the last st. That is fine then on row 6 it says to put 1 sc in first dc. there is no first dc it is 2 sc. It also says to ch 1 to start row 6 is this correct? Please help I would love to finish this blanket.

Hello again. Sorry to be a pest but aren’t you supose to be increasing (adding more sts. to 63 sts.)?

    Please advise.

Yes, Marie, you’re right. I think the idea is to increase by 1 st at each end on row 5, and work even on row 6, but without doing the pattern myself, it’s hard to picture.

I can’t wait to make one, they look so warm! I’m always wearing blankets around the house and this would be perfect 🙂 I think I’m going to crochet although I like the look of the knit better, it looks bigger too.

Hi. I started this a few years ago, and just picked it back up. I’m wondering if anyone has made this. I’m doing the knitted one, and am worried that it is going to be too short for an adult. If anyone has made it to the specifications, could you let me know how it fits? Thanks!
