Much as I hate to even think (shudder), much less write, about Alaska these days, I’ve come across an article from the Anchorage Daily News that has some tips for updating knitwear and choosing new fashions. Here a some of the suggestions for the 2008-09 season, with a link to the full artical at the end.
Short jackets are being shown in all the shows.
3/4 sleeves worn with bangles or layered over long sleeves are hot.
To update old sweaters, the writer suggests cutting off some length, picking up stitches, and knitting on a flared hemline. (I’d never do that, too much work. I’d rather make something new.)
Roll up or shorten sweater sleeves.
Twin sets are back (never realized they had gone anywhere) and buttons and bows are being used as embellishments. Change the buttons on a sweater for a new look. Pin some fabric or felted flowers to shoulder or neckline.
Tweed yarns and stitch patterns such as houndstooth or seed stitch are in.
